We were searching for a tax consultant to help us with our complex situation and were introduced to Juliet by a friend who publishes tax books for expats.
We are absolutely delighted and so grateful for this introduction as she has been such a support to us and manages to simplify such a difficult subject. Since our first communication with her she made us feel at ease and her vast knowledge in the area was evident. She has designed detailed personalised advice and guidance documents for us, tailored exactly to our needs and situation which are both clear and organised in such a way that it makes this very complicating subject easier for us to follow.
Juliet is not only clearly a professional and expert in her field but she is also patient, calm and kind and we have total confidence in her. We have now established a formal ongoing relationship with her as our official tax consultant/accountant which we are thrilled about.
I really can’t stress how grateful we are for the initial introduction. This was an area in our lives which filled us with anxiety and confusion but since meeting Juliet, she continues to provide personal support and guidance to all of our concerns and questions, however trivial or complex. Thank you so much Juliet, we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend you.

Juliet - I just wanted to say thank you for the speed and quality of your input to the cases we have worked on together. As you know we deal mainly with corporate matters, and it is therefore very helpful to have you alongside to deal with questions on cross border personal tax issues. Together we can offer a pretty comprehensive service to businesses setting up in the UK and their expat management. I look forward to working with you again on such cases in the future.

If there is one piece of advice I would offer anyone leaving Australia to work in the UK, it would be first to arrange an 'arrival' meeting with Juliet Connolly - for her invaluable taxation advice - before you do anything else.
In my case, I was on a temporary two-year assignment to Fairfax's London office but I had little knowledge about how the UK taxation system worked and absolutely no knowledge about how to structure my affairs to take advantage of various taxation relief opportunities. I somehow thought that paying tax through my employer would be sufficient and I could simply head home at the end of my secondment without filing annual tax returns.
Meeting Juliet through the Australian & New Zealand Chamber of Commerce network was a godsend. Juliet's personal one-on-one approach is considerably less daunting than dealing with large accountancy firms. My concerns about compliance issues and UK tax returns disappeared and Juliet made me aware of my entitlements under detatched duty relief. It was a wonderful suprise to find that many of my living expenses were deductible, and far from owing the taxman, he owes me!
So I thoroughly recommend Juliet Connolly to Australians working in the UK. She's one of the UK's hidden treasures!
